POKOTABI / Arinko
ありんこ
Tucked into Jingumae, Arinko serves generous teishoku sets loaded with crisp chicken katsu, menchi-katsu, and fragrant grilled fish, rounded out by steaming miso soup on weekday lunchtimes.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Despite its delicate name, Arinko in Jingumae 2-chome surprises first-time diners with the sheer scale of the trays that leave its kitchen. Centered on the classic teishoku format, meals arrive complete with white rice, hot miso soup, and pickles. Generous mounds of shredded cabbage flank the main dishes, presenting portions clearly built for hearty appetites.
The popular fried offerings cover classic teishoku territory, including crisp potato croquettes, substantial chicken katsu, and juicy, beef-and-pork menchi-katsu. For those who find it hard to choose, a combination plate with both a menchi-katsu and a croquette provides a dependable solution. Seafood options are equally respected, from thick cuts of salted salmon to salt-grilled horse mackerel and mackerel, their savory charred crusts drawing out extra bites of rice. A fragrant bowl of hot miso soup rounds out the meal with a warm, satisfying finish.
Open only during weekday lunch hours, the shop is run entirely by the owner, who handles both cooking and table service solo. Because each dish is prepared carefully to order, a visit is best suited for days when you have ample time for a midday break. Inside, counter seats and tables sit under gentle lighting, where solo diners often eat quietly at their own pace. Payment is cash only, so it is wise to have yen ready before stopping by.
